A coloured version of "Nellas". An experiment with colouring style; somewhat stronger and more saturated colours in this one compared to more washed-out colour schemes I usually prefer. The white border is another experiment.. I thought it might work better as a print.

Another drawing^^
Hmm...I like this one. It kept the ainchent feeling, a little more than the Christmas card. I should probably full view it, but I still like her expression, even though I can't see all the details right now..Oo..*full view*

*full viewed* Yup. More details now:D Very nice

Thank you! :D Yes, I tried to keep the colouring watercolour-like and quite desaturated.. It seems to fit better with the brown paper and "aged" effect.

Erm, maybe I missed a journal or comment somewhere, but was this coloured in photoshop? I really love the colours you chose: very earthy, rich and substantial and it goes well with the parchment... ness. It still has a watercolour affect, but it's somehow ... beefier? =P I can't think of the correct term to use (two semesters at art school and I still don't use correct art-critique vernacular) Anyway, an excellent attemp you've made. I loikes it.

Ah, see.. this is what happens when I’m too tired to write a proper description! I’ll have to edit it soon. :ohmygod:

Anyway, yes. In fact, the whole piece is digital, linework and all, so there’s nothing but Photoshop in the entire drawing! The only part that originated outside the computer is the background paper and even that was a regular sheet of copy paper I scanned and fiddled with.

I wasn’t really trying to replicate watercolour effect per se but more like the feel of fairly light colours and the linework dominating – to keep it a drawing instead of a painting. Still, I used some of the colours to get some shading dark areas in (e.g. the green in the dress). I work with highly saturated colours and then tune the finished colours down with about 50 % sepia to get the more desaturated, washed-out feel that I prefer.. this one is still quite colourful, I think. I’m still working things out and it takes ages!

And thank you, Liz. :)

:D Thank you! I'm pretty sure I've invented the most complicated and painstakinly slow Photoshop-colouring technique.. but I hope it's getting better! :XD:
