Such lissom limbs no more shall run
on the green earth beneath the sun;
so fair a maid no more shall be
from dawn to dusk, from sun to sea.
Her robe was blue as summer skies,
but grey as evening were her eyes;
her mantle sewn with lilies fair,
but dark as shadow was her hair.
Her feet were swift as bird on wing,
her laughter merry as the spring;
the slender willow, the bowing reed,
the fragrance of a flowering mead,
the light upon the leaves of trees,
the voice of water, more than these
her beauty was and blissfulness,
her glory and her loveliness.
-- J. R. R. Tolkien: The Lay of Leithian
This is an attempt to depict Lúthien as Beren saw her dancing in the forest of Neldoreth: singing together with the nightingales with flowers springing at her feet as her song swept away the winter and awakened the spring. Obviously it's a poor attempt.. I like this drawing, but it really doesn't do Lúthien justice. She's supposed to be the most beautiful being that ever lived, but I just managed to draw a relatively pretty girl with a big head who looks like she's wearing too much make-up.. ..Wait, perhaps the secret of Lúthien's unmatched beauty was that she was the only girl in Middle-earth who knew a cosmetologist..
*cough* uhmm.. aaanyway, nothing special about this; HB pencil + HB mech. pencil on regular printer paper + the usual Photoshop treatment. No idea how long this took me in total, but probably an hour to draw the whole thing and five more to shade the evil dress!
oh man! you draw incredibly! but.. remember Lűthien Tinűviel was described as the most beatiful elf ever!!! and the elves are more beatiful than any other specie, so, where's the beauty? i didn't like her in your drawing, but the drawing it's pretty coo!
Well.. I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.. I know I could've done a better job depicting Lúthien and I'll probably give it another go sometime, but in my opinion she turned out quite pretty in this one, even if I'm not completely satisfied with her face.. Anyway, probably our taste in women is just different.
i wasn't talking about her body and sorry if you though that, i respect your works, yo an awesome drawer. for me the beauty isn't in the body, is in the face, the face needs more work, but the rest of the drawing is just awesome. Oh by the way, what is the english translation for Dűnedain? my main language is spanish so i know it as "montaraz", how you say it in english?
Hhmm, "dúnedain" just traslates to "men of the west" as you probably know, but I believe the English word you're looking for is "ranger(s)", since that would be the closest appropriate equivalent of "montaraz".. (not that I'd know much Spanish, but anyway..)

...if you do this again, I would love to see her long beautiful dark hair dancing on the wind...
The flowering grass is so lovely and such a nice touch in this drawing. It works to echo the same melodic movement in Luthien.
i loved your Tinúviel
