Ready for a night out in town by aautio Ready for a night out in town by aautio
Hereís something I drew yesterday. I got inspired by ~tracyjbís amazing gallery that I happened to find just a couple of days ago. Seeing her wonderful pencil drawings made me want to draw something a bit more finished than the sketches Iíve been drawing lately. My problem usually is that I donít plan my drawings beforehand too much - I might sketch the pose roughly first, but once Iím done with face and hair I often lose interest in finishing the piece. This time I wanted to give the idea and the methods a bit more thought.

And yes - itís yet another Beatrice drawing! :) Sheís my only active character at the moment and Iím trying to see if I can establish some kind of personal look for her so that every time I draw her sheíd be recognizable .. Thatís very hard to do usually; my drawings of same characters often look like different persons. I went for a slightly more realistic look this time and tried to avoid exaggerating the eyes too much for instance.

My first idea was to draw her in some fancy business style clothes on her way to another meeting of the primogen accompanied by her ghoul bodyguard but as I was looking for references for fashionable clothes I ran across a photo of a model walking down the catwalk wearing a dress like that, and I decided to draw her in her party outfit instead. As anyone can probably tell from her walk, I also used the pic as a reference when sketching the pose guidelines. So here she is leaving her mansion, ready to head into the Chicago nightlife with her red Bugatti convertible.. :)

Iím quite happy with how this turned out, even though it doesnít fully succeed in creating that personalized character look for Beatrice. She looks a bit different again, a bit too old perhaps.. (and looking at it now I just realized her boobs are way too big as well.. uhhm, I mustíve been looking too closely at the reference photo.. )

I rendered the shading very lightly to keep the drawing clear for colouring later.. Iíd love to get to it right away, but as Iíve already concluded that Iím just wasting my time (and risking getting tendonitis on my wrist..) with my mouse Iíll let it wait until I get a tablet.

EDIT: Better scan

This is certainly one of your best works. it's clearly evident that you took the time for many of the details within the picture. Personally, I think she looks refined and properly aged instead of looking childish for being 17/24.

I've been playing Vampire since 1996 and I happen to think that even a young vampire will always look slightly more aged because of their power, not because of their true physical age.

Thank you! :)

Interesting point about the age.. makes sense too. A vampire would most likely appear slightly older. Although Bea had all the merits like Baby Face and Eat Food which made her seem very human.. noticing she was a vampire would be very hard even when she wasn't using Obfuscate.. well, if it wasn't for the Appearance rating of 6 that exeeds human maximum.. ;)

Too bad that campaign was short-lived.. I really liked the character.

Yes and too bad you don't live close, we could run a game together. ^.^ I haven't had a good Vampire game in a long time.
