The Sword That Was Broken by aautio The Sword That Was Broken by aautio
I finally managed to do a digitally coloured version of this deviation. Itís fairly simple, I mainly wanted to try a little something with gradient fills. Iím not too thrilled by the result.. I guess this is again one of those drawings that work best without colour. I donít like the shirt colour and there probably should be more variance in the leather tones, but I just lack the time and motivation to fiddle with it any longer.. at least for the time being.

Maybe you would like to colour one of my drawings? :D For example, the newest: Armenelos ([link])

Are you sure? I mean.. I'm quite a lousy colourist -- my method takes forever, doesn't look very good and I hate doing it. I really should learn to do it some other way, but it seems I never have the time to really draw with the tablet any more.. :(

That drawing's very nice though! :)

Nicely done. Coloring really works :)
Hmm, I always expected for this sword to be shorter :)

Ah, well.. I first drew it too short.. then i lengthened the broken blade and it turned almost too long.. but anyway, I always figured it would be a war sword - something one would generally wield with both hands.

Well, I thought that they were using shields :)
Honestly, the largest sword would be hmm 'půłtorak' - I'm not sure how it's called in english. It's a type of sword one can use in one or both hands - a bit longer than usual. But it's still not the best way to go, when You have shield in other hand.

Those two handed swords are too large, too heavy, and too slow. At least that is my opinion :)

Yes, what I meant by "war sword" is basically a hand-and-a-half sword. A weapon you would use after dismounting (and possibly losing your shield). The Nķmenorians certainly would have used shields at war but I don't see Aragorn carrying one myself.. just my image of him, of course.

Ah, my point exactly :)

Hmm, as for Aragorn - well, shield would be a problem for him. I see him more like a scout than a warrior. And there's heraldics we have to consider. But for knights it's different story :)

And Narsil was definately the knight's sword. So I guess the question should be - was the king using shield or not ;)
