WIP: The Reunion of Lovers

Finrod and Amarië reunited in Valinor

The resurrected Finrod Felagund returns to life from the Halls of Mandos and is reunited with his beloved Amarië in Valinor. Again a scene that undoubtedly happened, but is nowhere written. I think inspiration came mainly from Finrod works of ~Filat and ~Eldanis that I saw lately. So I'm revisiting the theme of Finrod and Amarië and this is closely related to the drawing I made of their parting: [link] . Therein the theme was sad; after the death of the Two Trees, in darkened Valinor under the withered trees and falling leaves, whereas here the theme is obviously glad, that of a new spring with flowers blooming and happy hippie elves going barefoot on the soft green grass..

This is a small drawing I sketched on an A6 watercolour pad at a work seminar in Latvia yesterday.. (it's proof that seminars can be very productive.. don't know what this really has to do with "management and processes in health care", though! ). Took me about an hour and I think it turned out rather well. There are some things off with their anatomy but I still like it. This is clearly not a finished piece yet, just lineart drawn with 0,5 HB mech. pencil without much shading, because I'm thinking of actually colouring it with watercolour.. it's drawn on an aquarelle pad after all. Don’t' know when I'll have the time, though. This might become quite a nice little painting provided I don't botch up the colouring as is to be expected..

Once again, this is an absolutely horrible scan, courtesy of my worthless Lexmark scanner. I will rescan this at some point, since the line quality here is just plain awful. And I'll get round doing the colouring at some point too. Both elves are supposed to wear all white.. So suggestions about how to make an efficient colour scheme with watercolours from this starting point are very welcome!

EDIT:
I erased and redrew her hand (for the fourth time..) and now i think it's the right length.. her head is still slightly too big but i redrew her chin and got rid of the tears and the hair in front of her face, so she should not look like grandmother Amarië any more.. and finally i scanned it at the office; i think it looks a lot better simply because of the better scan.
