Some random thoughts for today (29 Aug 2007).. Today I've passed a milestone: I've seen (well, figuratively) the sunset for exactly 10 500 times. Why is that important? Well, it's not.. but it made a nice big number!
It also makes me feel old (as if I wouldn't feel that way constantly anyway).
Yesterday I also heard that a big international health care architecture competition that I participated in (as an assisting member of a team, but anyway..) has gone really well for us and our project is among the top-4 who were invited to Holland next month for the award ceremony!
To celebrate both of these important (?) events I cooked a nice dinner for myself.. (and drank half a bottle of wine with it.. now it's time to get some sleep!)

I really like the scrapbook feature in dA.. It’s nice to be able to upload some less finished stuff and just ideas and notes without clogging up the main gallery.
So, as an avid scrapbook user, I did a bit of “ personal art archaeology” last weekend.. I went through a pile of my old (and new) sketchbooks (I’ve got loads of them as I always keep misplacing them somewhere and usually use 3-4 simultaneously) and scanned and compiled some of my old sketches and doodles.. some of which are almost 10 years old! There would’ve been a lot more of them still, especially travel sketches from various trips, but I grew tired of scanning.. maybe I’ll do that some later time. As it was, I ended up with 16(!) “double-pages” of sketch compilations already! (so my apologies if anyone happens to be watching my scraps..
)
It was fun to note that even though the sketches come from several different sketchbooks, all drawings from the same “ period” were clearly recognisable.. it seems I used a certain medium for practically all my sketching at one time and something else another time.. like soft 4B pencil in 98-99, thin black markers in 2000, black ballpoint pen and markers / white markers on black paper in 2003, markers and brush pen in 2004, pencil again in 2005.. interesting (for me, probably not to anyone else
).
It’s also quite depressing to notice that it seems that in the two first years at the University (~1998-2000) I still had time to play RPGs and draw and do other fun stuff.. after that my drawing are mostly just architecture and project sketches (which are fun as well, of course, but..). It wasn’t until Autumn 2005 that I started drawing more just for fun again.

On a completely unrelated topic, I got kicked out of my apartment!
Well, not really
kicked out, but my landlord wants me to move out so his teenage son can move in (so
he’s the one who actually got kicked out of home.. heh
). Anyway, it’s bad news for me, since it’s not a good time to be looking for a flat.. schools are starting and all the new students are moving in. I had also grown quite fond of my old apartment during these four years I lived in it.. it was small and crappy, true enough, but very cheap and centrally located.. it’s hard to find a better deal, since rents in “Hell-sink-i” are outrageous..
I’ve still got about a month to look, though, so I’m bound to find
something. One of my options at the moment is to move in to a commune in the centre where a friend of mine lives, but since I’ve been living (mostly) alone for the best part of the last decade I have my doubts about sharing an apartment.. even if it is a huge one. (Although I suppose if I coped with sharing a
room with 15 guys in the army, I can share an
apartment with 4 people..
). We’ll see.
That’s it for today’s newsflash.. see you later, peeps.
